Doeguling Tibetan Settlement was established in 1965 by the grace of His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, the noble peace winner of 1989; and by the generous helps and support of Indian government. During that time there were only one village and no monasteries. Later on the monasteries were built. Also the villages had been enlarged due to increase in population. But many people faced health problems mainly because of changed in climate and also because of water.
But by the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and generous support of our amiable friends, today the settlement has better facility than before. However, people of the settlement still face problem of water, which is very important.
People have been facing water problems since from last many years. And this problem increases every year due to the increase in number of population. The water that the settlement uses presently is not so sufficient for the people and on the top of that the water is not very hygienic. So due to lack of good water supply, people (especially the children) often get sick.
